Meet the Pastor and his family

If you were to ask the Stephens family where they are "originally" from, you will get several different answers. Jason and Clare met while attending college and were married six months after graduation. During their 12 years of ministry they have served in CT, GA and FL. Jason and Clare have two children.

Jason was born in Greenwood, SC and grew up in Greenville, SC. His dad was on staff at the Tabernacle Baptist Church and school, where Dr. Harold Sightler was the Pastor. When Jason was eleven years old he trusted in Christ.  He was told by his parents that he had made a profession of faith at five years of age. However, at eleven he came under conviction and realized that he had never really trusted Christ.  Jason's mom led him to the Lord, but it was not until several years later that he followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. As a young man, there were times he experienced doubts but this issue was settled. Jason encourages parents to speak with their children about the Lord and then give them time to come to know Him.  God is at work in their lives even when we do not see it.  When Jason turned thirteen his family moved to Walkertown, NC (right outside of Winston-Salem ) where his Dad took a job as the Principal of Gospel Light Christian School.  It was there at Gospel Light Baptist Church under Bro. Bobby and Bro. Steve Roberson, that Jason was called to preach at the age of sixteen.  Jason graduated from Gospel Light Christian School in 1992 and then attended Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville , FL.  While there he majored in Church and Youth Ministries, and graduated in 1996.  He has served as a Youth Pastor/ Assistant Pastor for the past ten years and now God has led him to serve here in Windsor, CT.  Even though Jason now lives in "UCONN Country", he (and his family) passionately cheers for the North Carolina Tarheels!

Clare was born in Grove , England which is outside of Oxford . She lived there until her Dad's job transferred their family to Boston , MA . Clare was 8 years old when she moved to Maynard , MA . All of Clare's immediate family lives in the U.S. , while her other relatives still live in England . Clare's family did not know Christ until someone knocked on their door in MA and invited them to church. Praise the Lord, all of Clare's immediate family has trusted Christ! Clare graduated from Twin City Christian School in Lunenburg , MA . Upon graduation she decided to attend Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville , FL. and major in Elementary Education. Clare taught Elementary school for 5 years and also coached volleyball. She is a great encouragement to her husband and is a wonderful mom.
